A. Le Coq 63rd Moonsund regatta is coming to an end and the closing ceremony is going to take place today at Kalev Yacht Club after the final race. The winners will get their medals and Folkboots new Estonian champions.

The last but one race was held on Tallinn bay yesterday with the distance of 17-24 nautical miles depending on the group. By nightfall, all yachts had reached Pirita. The last chance to better their results will be today, which is also the final racing day.

The Friday stage of the regatta was especially interesting because after the fifth race all teams could discard their worst result. However, there are no significant changes in the overall results for the leaders who have shown very stable results throughout.

In ORC I group Matilda 4 with skipper Mihkel Kose at the helm from Kalev Yacht Club won the race and secured their overall leadership position. Regardless of the results of the last race they will be the regatta winners in their group.

Olympic from Yacht Club Dago with Tiit Vihul at the helm finished second and they hold the same position in overall line-up. The third result belonged to Sven Nuutmann’s yacht Postimees Sailing Team from Yacht Club Dago.

In ORC II My-Car with skipper Harles Liiv at the helm from Kalev Yacht Club got their first race win and now they are on the fourth position. The overall leader of the group – Sugar from Pärnu Yacht Club, skippered by Marjaliisa Umb – was behind them and Katariina II with Aivar Tuulberg’s team from Pärnu Yacht Club came in third.

In ORC III Dago Yacht Club yacht Celia skippered by Rauno Pielberg got its second consecutive race win which secured them the second position overall. Piloilleri 3 from Kalev Yacht Club is the overall leader despite their second place in the race. Liliann from Saaremaa Merispordi Selts with skipper Margus Beljakov was third.

ORC IV overall leader comes from Toila Yacht Club - Julechka and skipper Joel Kõiv won yet another race. Merilane from Yacht Club Dago were second, and this got its skipper Raigo Pajula on the podium for the first time during the regatta. Lagle III and skipper Ülari Velviste from Haapsalu Yacht Club were third.

In Folkboot group the race win went to Tee Chee from Kalev Yacht Club (skipper Peeter Välkmann), Bacchus from Yacht Club Dago (skipper Olev Oolup) was second and Tiina (skipper Meelis Lindemann) from Kelvingi Yacht Club was third. Before the last race, the two overall leaders – Bacchus and W-Lind (skipper Tiit Riisalo, Kalev Yacht Club) – have an equal number of points which makes the last race to the championship title especially exciting.
